![]() I'm wondering whether I should consider >4 GB RAM if I'm unable to go with the 2GB 800 MHz chips (Twin2x4096-6400C5DHX) and must rely instead on the Value Select chips (VS2GBKit667D2). I don't know if Intel considers "not supported" to mean "won't work" or "go ahead and try but don't call us when the machine blows." ![]() ![]() ![]() There was also some information in an Intel document that a machine will beep three times and fail to start when RAM isn't recognized, a condition reported by continuum earlier in this thread when he reported trying the Twin2x4096-6400C5DHX chips. It's also interesting that an 8GB RAM total is only supported for RAM speeds less than 800 MHz. The Intel Q965 Express chipset platform with LGA-775 package provides scalable performance and an ideal price/performance solution for embedded computing. View the README file for installation information and the RELEASE NOTES for driver version details. These configurations appear to be consistent for the various Q965 motherboards they list.ĭIMM Type, Smallest DIMM, Largest DIMM, Max CapacityĪccording to these specs, it doesn't look like a DDR2 2GB 800 MHz RAM chip is supported. : This file is written specifically for the desktop Intel 946GZ, G31, G33, G35, G41, G43, G45, Q33, Q35, Q43, Q45, G965, Q963, and Q965 Express Chipsets and the Mobile Intel GM45, GL960, and GM965 Express Chipsets and will not function with any other product. ![]() I contacted Intel a couple of days ago about the 2GB module issue and was eventually referred to a table of supported memory configurations for the DQ965GF motherboard today. Thanks for being willing to replace the chips. ![]()
